Have you driven an Elise? The Elise and Europa drive amazingly alike. Probably not surprising since they are both mid engines and from Lotus. The Europa is 300 lbs lighter, and the conversions where I substitute a modified Zetec, the Europas are actually faster. 170 hp, individual throttle bodies (motorcycle), headers and megasquirt.

That was the engine that was next to the mystery car.

which is next to the Europa frame..... the same design you will find in the Esprit and Delorean.

Looks great Jim!

No, I've never driven an Elise. I've driven a Europa (briefly, on the street) several years ago--and was very tempted to buy a project one earlier this year (It had a 16-valve VW conversion).

You're right, though, sports cars have become obese. sad.gif

That frame still amazes me it is so Colin Chapman-esque. Simplistic and minimalist down to it's very soul.

The MR2 looks very nice too Jim. You did a nice detail job. (As always.)

I cut the holes back to good metal. treated them, welded in new metal and contoured to original. Lots of practice on past cars.

Luckily the factory paint is the same as Rustoleum red. (Guards red is pretty close to Rustoleum red also)

Thanks! Toyota didn't use clear coat so the red really gets bad looking. High speed buffers are amazing.

I'm tempted to send the PO a pic of the car.
